Besides managing construction, it is essential to ensure that the PROJECT IS BUILT ON TIME AND ON BUDGET. This involves a prudent approach in managing every single labour and materiel component for the entire project. It starts with requesting quotes, evaluating the lowest cost that meets the specs as well as keeping track of the expenses as they progress. This may involve from one to several invoices for a single item of material or labour required for the project; keeping tracking of expenses versus ‘cost to complete’ can be challenging when there are several items and several invoices per item, translating to several hundred to several thousand invoices. It is also important to classify items by category, preparing documentation, cost reports and proper bookkeeping to manage expenses effectively.
